About this item

  • COMFORT ZONE FOR PRESSURE RELIEF – The COMFORT ZONE cutout is an open area on the underside in the base of the saddle shell towards the nose that provides pressure relief for soft tissue by allowing the saddle padding to slightly push through the plane of the saddle base for extra comfort so you can ride longer and more comfortably.
  • LOVE CHANNEL - This saddle padding relief down the middle on the top center of WTB saddles from the rear of the saddle to approximately 50 mm (2”) from the tip of the saddle nose that provides soft tissue relief and prevents unwanted pressure that would otherwise cause numbness.
  • DUAL COMPOUND SOFT-SHELL BASE FOR SHOCK ABSORPTION – The WTB Speed Medium Comfort Bike Saddle features a shock-absorbing dual compound Soft-Shell base that minimizes vibrations, providing a smooth ride and enhancing pedaling efficiency.
  • SOFT TISSUE RELIEF- This approximate 6mm dip in the area of both male and female soft tissue provides additional soft tissue relief and prevents unwanted pressure that may otherwise cause numbness.
  • THICK DNAX PADDING FOR MAXIMUM CUSHIONING – Featuring WTB’s thickest level of DNAX padding, this saddle provides excellent cushioning while maintaining durability. The lightweight polyurethane padding reduces soreness, making it ideal for long and short rides.
  • ABR CORNERS AND MICROFIBER COVER FOR DURABILITY – ABR corners protect the saddle from rips and tears, extending its life. The Microfiber Cover replicates leather's look and feel while offering anti-microbial and cruelty-free benefits for enhanced comfort and hygiene.

Soft to the touch, this lightweight polyurethane padding is a great option for anyone experiencing sore contact points on their saddle. Ideal for rides of shorter duration.

WTB Speed Saddle

Speed Cromoly Padding

HLX + Gel PADDING:

30% more shock absorbent than polyurethane, HLX padding is plusher than our DNA padding. It’s a great option for those of you who prioritize squishiness over weight savings. Wish your memory foam mattress topper could be transformed into a saddle? Look no further than our HLX padding.

Gel inserts provide additional support to prevent the pinching of soft tissues while also cradling the sit bones in a comfortable position on the saddle.

WTB Speed Saddle

Steel Rails

Our entry-level saddles utilize strong and reliable steel rails to provide lasting comfort and durability and affordability.

WTB Speed Cromoly Saddle

Cromoly Rails

Increased strength and less weight make cromoly steel a noticeable upgrade over traditional steel rails. The perfect choice for bikepackers and avid off road riders.

WTB Speed Soft Shell

Soft Shell

Shock-absorbing, dual-compound saddle base. Soft-Shell saddles minimize trail vibration while providing a rigid platform for efficient pedaling. Great for riders not using cycling shorts.

WTB Speed Saddle

Shell

The Composite shell consists of nylon. It provides a firm and supportive feel for unparalleled performance and efficiency.

WTB Speed Saddle

Cover Materials

MICROFIBER COVER:

Found on all WTB saddles, our Microfiber cover closely replicates the look and feel of a leather cover. The supple nature of the Microfiber Cover allows the foam to support the sit bones without interfering with its resiliency.

ABR CORNERS:

Abrasion Resistant Corners, these durable patches of material protect the corners and sides of the saddle from rips and tears.

My previous saddle, wider and softer, was a killer to the butt about 18 miles out. Based on reviews and WTB’s respected standing in the bike world, I bought the Speed Comp model...inexpensive in the world of bike saddles. Noticeable improvement in comfort. If you view my photo, you will see what I think are some specific reasons for the improvement. My previous saddle has the two back end points of the rail directly under your “bottom” directly sending bumps and vibrations straight upward while the WTB moves them back and into the entire rail system to distribute evenly. At the front point, my previous saddle has the same rails coming together more toward the rear and sending bumps/vibrations upward toward my “delicate” body parts, while the WTB saddle has the front point as far forward as possible avoiding sending movement upward. While there is no way to change the impact coming upward from the bike, I do feel WTB’s design works best at dispersing the shock. You can also notice my previous saddle has hard plastic covering the entire bottom vs WTB leaves areas open so shocks are directed away from your sit points. I thought viewing the saddles from the underside was another way to understand the thought behind why my ride comfort improved. My previous saddle was highly rated and within the same price range.

UPDATE - About 500 miles now and I love it. Seems to be holding up well and has been comfortable from day 1.

I've only ridden a few miles for fit, but so far I like it. I'll update this once I have put some miles on.

I have been riding an Avocet Touring saddle (its 20+ yo and well over 15,000 miles). I have been looking to replace it for awhile now, but since Avocet is gone, I've not found a decent replacement. I've purchased a bunch of different saddles and returned them immediately. If it isn't as comfy as a beat up old relic, its just not comfy period and never will be. BTW, aside from a couple of short pieces of black electrical tape covering small slits, the Avocet still looks and feels pretty good. Sorry the company is gone.

This is the first saddle that seems to have a chance. A little stiffer, but basically comfy right out of the package. I won't throw the Avocet away just yet, but I expect this to be my new ride.

And hey, the price is right. Why pay $100+ for a piece of leather and some brass rivets?? 100 years without any R&D or change, someone if laughing all the way to the bank. Buy one and the expression "more money than....." comes to mind. Burns my rear what they charge for bike parts. Maybe if they were less expensive, more people would ride (or in my case, update/upgrade).

Some background. I have had 2 WTB Volt Steel saddles in the last 4 years. They have both failed, one of the rails broke on each. I ride 90% road and 10% light trails, no jumps. My weight 175 pounds.

After about 40 miles on the Volts, there was some tenderness on my sit bone area. I now have the Cromoly Speed. Yesterday I rode 110 miles on the Speed, and not even a hint of tenderness, I could have gone further, at least as far as my butt was concerned. So the Speed is definitely more comfortable for longer rides.

I purchased the Cromoly version to see if it is more durable than the Steel. If it fails in 3 years or less, I will never buy another WTB saddle. I ride 5K miles a year, and I feel like a $75 saddle should last more than 3 years.

My seat is properly torqued and there are no sharp edges on the clamp/mount on the seatpost. The seatpost is a top of the line Thompson.

Love this seat. Have one on my other bike and love it. Couldn't order this one to replace the original seat on my new bike. Just enough support and padding to make it comfortable yet not to soft. Highly recommend this seat.

I bought a WTB Speed saddle for my Trek 520 in 2006. 17 years later, it's still like new. The saddle on my new Jamis Renegade was too hard for me. I was amazed to see that the WTB Speed was still for sale after all this time. Other than the new one being all-black, they're identical. Still comfortable as ever. I appreciate the padding; not squishy, just comfortable. For me it's ideal. There's a reason it's still around.

This is a ok seat if you only ride once in a while. If you ride regularly it's not too comfortable / it's pretty stiff. May be more comfortable if you can find a large this is med.
That material is rubbery so it grips your shorts while you ride makes it a pain to reposition yourself.
