This is the very best tube I have found! Super thick with slightly extended reinforced schrader valve and seam. They do not need to tell you this tube is resistant to thorns, you can see it. Better than the ultra thick slime self sealing tube. Hey with a good tube you won't need sealant. Incidentally my slime tube had a valve separation. If you want durability, thickness, Hassel free and are willing to pay more, this is your tube. MarkMannM2

These have served me very well in all of my city riding. I use them on an old 80's Schwinn, PERFECT! Installation was easy. After you make the switch you can just forget about them. I was used to having to patch an innertube every couple of weeks, I haven't had to do so for nearly a year now.

    UPDATE (5/11/2014)

I've used this in a newer bike (click my name to check for the review of the Takara Kabuto for more info), it's still a dream match. Many bikes being sold used anywhere or new on the cheap in come with very weak inner tubes. Sometimes they're already damaged or will be! In my newer road bike the inner tube that it came with was mostly in one piece but had a few scuff marks. It was thin and I had already planned ahead with another order thorn tubes. I've had that bike for nearly a year (and am buying a second one to leave at work) and have not experienced a single flat.

Another perk that I've noticed between using my older bike and the newer one is that I don't need to refill the air as often as I used to. I weigh about 330 lbs right now (keeps going up because I haven't given up on Domino's and pop yet - that is what I'm guessing is negating all of my bike riding, I was 270 when I originally made this review), that is amazing. Before using these I would have to make adjustments 2-3 times a week. Now it's more like every other week. I never get so low on air that I notice a huge slow down but after I top off I can definitely feel a higher level of stability in my riding. I'm certain that if you weigh less that you will get more out of it. I've dipped below 270 and above 330 over the past few years. I don't consistently ride this bike everyday or commute with it everyday but I am on it often every week.

At the very least I'm glad that I have not had to suffer the displeasure of patching an inner tube for years. It's simple enough to do but it's down time. On a commute or for anything time strict it can be trouble if you don't leave out soon enough. Depending upon where you're riding when you go down, it can be death even if you are an expert. You wouldn't want to get a busted tube while riding in the street with a car tailing you and a high curb off to your side. The cost fluctuates between $7-$10, I'd say that it's worth either price.

Also, your inner tube is only as good as the stuff around it. With my Schwinn I replaced the tires that it came with because they were worn. Decent tires are just as inexpensive as these inner tubes. I didn't know much about rim tape when I had the Schwinn but I'm glad that I learned about them during the bike switch. Here's a quick briefer for those that are new to it. Rim tape is that rubbery stuff (like a thick, giant rubber band) that sits inside of the rim where the inner tube rests. It's the main protection that your inner tube will receive from the spokes of your bike. The spokes usually aren't exposed completely, but the mechanisms that hold them in place can cause punctures in your inner tube. I replaced mine on the newer bike with a brand called Ritchey's. It's a very simple and easy fix, it only cost me $5 and came with two rolls of the stuff so that I could replace the rim tape for both wheels.

The tires on my newer bike were boss, the rim tape was already broken. If I hadn't of planned ahead, the investment in these inner tubes could have been wasted. It's one thing to ride over glass while having a huge rubber wheel as your first line of protection, it's another to have metal rods millimeters away constantly poking at rubber. These inner tubes are tough but I wouldn't make a suit out of them and expect to be protected from stabs.

I know that this is a review for the inner tubes, I just believe that you should have a complete picture of how they function in your bikes health. You should know about how they will fit in so that you aren't wasting your money. They aren't miracle workers, if your components are lacking, I would not expect this to make up for them. They're awesome and have been perfect for me so far but I still take the proper precautions for bike safety.

Finally! Inner tubes that are thicker than a balloon's material! A word of advice for sizes: if you're tire is 700c - 28in (622) , be sure NOT to choose the selections that start with "700 x ... (27 x ...)". These are for 27 diameter tires, not 700c. Instead choose the selection that starts with "29 x...". You can also verify the designated tire size by scrolling down and reading the technical details of the item (something I foolishly overlooked when I made my first purchase of the incorrect size).
These make me feel confident I'll be riding for a couple months, even years, without having to think about non-road-debris punctures (like tube pinching)! staples and screws in the road might be a contender though, but the thickness of these inner tubes really give the sense of lowering even that probability.

I installed the "29 x 1.9-2.30" for my 700c/28in diameter 1.5mm thick tires. They were noticeably bigger than anything i've seen before and was worried it would be too big. But after massaging the inner tube and using the tire levers, I got the tire on the wheel with the bead snuggly in the rim.

Ive been using my bike for a week now, and haven't had to repump air into my tires! I am really satisfied with this brand and would most definitely by these inner tubes again at a later time. Hopefully they stick around the market!

Based on other reviews I bought this to add to my arsenal of road debris defenses. After trying to install it last year and giving up, I tried the soapy water technique suggested by another reviewer. I still nearly gave up. The tube is so thick that it nearly fills the space between the wheel rims, even when fully deflated. It's very, very stiff.

Armed with a sufficient quantity of hot soapy water, sponge, and no shortage of bullheaded determination, I gave it another attempt and ultimately prevailed. A lot of sore fingers was the cost of victory. Side benefit: a sparkling clean wheel.

Once installed, there appeared to be a lot of space between the tube, whose cross sectional diameter is rather small, and the tire. I half expected it to blow up at my tire pressure of about 100 psi. Relieved that it did not explode, I went on a short ride and was immediately disappointed because I perceived an obvious lump as the wheel rotated.

Feeling around the tire's circumference revealed the problem... there was a soft spot of four or five inches in one area. But how? How can a fully inflated tube not make contact with the tire all around? This rocked my admittedly limited world of tire knowledge. As I dejectedly rode back cursing the day I bought this horrific thing from Satan's rubber products factory, I noticed my legs were periodically getting sprayed by water. I thought I left my water bottle behind...? Anyway, the source of the water was the wheel. Soapy water. Ah-ha.

Upon returning, I deflated the tire and a few more drops of water leaked from tire / tube / wheel assembly. A couple more inflation / deflation cycles was enough to force any water that remained trapped between the tube and tire to an acceptable minimum. No more lumps.

If this maddeningly difficult to install tube endures road debris significantly greater than conventional tubes, I'll revise the rating to five stars (edit: done!)

Update: Since I first installed this tube six weeks ago, it hasn't lost an ounce of pressure. That's unprecedented. The tube is amazing.
