- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2013The Maxxis Overdrive Hybrid Bike Tire is a fine tire. In fact, it's even better than that. I own a Windsor Rover 2.0 hybrid and it came with a standard Kenda OEM. It was adequate, but being a rather large male at 6' 3" and 230# and having a disability, I can ill afford having a blowout or leak along any type of trail or urban route. I have had these tires now for about 200 miles and they still look brand new! But, they also have a good tread pattern and seem to work well on both wet and dry road surfaces. I will probably update this review after I hit 500 miles or so, but for now, I would have to recommend them highly and give the tire a solid 5 star rating.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2015My wife got these for me for Christmas as I am a bike commuter (I ride about 16 miles/day, 8 each way). I have a hard-tail 29er mountain bike to ride during the snowy Utah winters but I wanted tires that were a little less aggressive and better for road use than standard mountain bike tires. These are excellent. I have ridden them approximately 150 miles and I have had zero flats so far, and the tread seems to be holding up fairly well. I guess they could have used a little stronger rubber but for the price I can't really complain. Compared to my roadie these still have noticably more roll resistance, but that's to be expected...THEY'RE NOT SLICKS, DON'T EXPECT THEM TO BEHAVE LIKE THEY ARE.
Overall, great tires for bike commuting.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2014These are great tires, very durable and good for light trails. The bad part is because they are so durable they are very heavy and create a lot of resistance. If you want hardcore durable tites for your commuter it touring these are great. If you want a slim fast tire, these are terrible.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2012Wanted to buy a bike tire that would last. this one has the Kevlar protection so I got this one. Now I have these tires on all my bikes. Easy to put on myself. The hard part is to keep my mom from "supervising" me!! good tire for the money and also has the reflective strip built in the tire (I like that feature) Maxxis is a good tire with good traction for my city bike.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2015I had to see them to believe them but these are solid hybrid replacement tires. Tire sizes can be confusing so in addition to the 700C-38 designation I believe they have an ISO size of 40-622 stamped on the side. Rolling circumference is 35-13/16. I have used them for about a year and we do a lot of riding on not-so-well paved country roads, gravel, and seal-chipped surfaces. They have held up well. So far so good.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2011I just mounted my 2nd pair of these tires. Put over 4000 miles on the first set and they've still got about 1000 miles of tread left on them. Replaced because I'm leaving on a 1200 mile tour. Will remount when I get back to squeeze out all the mileage.
For such a wide tire, they are light, nimble, and easy on/off.
I've had 4 wire punctures. For comparison, I had 4 punctures over 7000 miles on a pair of Marathon XRs that cost twice as much and were harder to mount and dismount.
For the bucks, I don't think there is a better touring tire out there.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2014I bought this tire to replace a worn out Bontrager with the exact same specs. This tire was significantly larger & would not stay on the rim. I'm experienced with bike tires & found that a replacement tire of the same brand as the original fit just fine.
Your experience may vary. I regret this purchase.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2009so far so good this are some good tires. I had these tires for few weeks and I've ran over pieces of glass and stones and so far no holes in my tires. They are nice looking tires and they ride very smooth. I highly recommend them especially for the price that I paid. For the money no bike tires out there can compete.
