- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2024I bought this bike for my son for Christmas. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to pull the bike out of the box until late Christmas Eve. The bike isn't hard to finish putting together, but it does take a little time, which I didn't have. You have to put the front tire on, pedals, seat, and handlebars. Alot of those installations require allen wrenches, which I didn't have at the time. Make sure you have some if you buy this bike. Additionally, the front brakes are disc brakes, and you have to complete the installation of the front brake cable to the brake lever on the handlebars. This also takes a little time. None of this is hard, just know that you will need to do it when you get it. Overall, a well-built bike.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2020I spent some time researching many mountain bikes in this price range and I have to say I am happy with my choice! I have been on several rides so far. A few were just around the neighborhood, but I have had a couple 10 plus milers and one actual extreme mountain bike trail ride for almost 8 miles. The duel suspension is unbelievable and is definitely a big upgrade from my previous bike. On other reviews, I read bigger guys were bottoming out the suspension. I’m 5’7”/135 lbs and have no issues. The front disk brake stops on a dime and are super quiet. The handlebars themselves are a comfortable shape and you feel super ready for any movements needed. I know it’s silly to say, but the colors are badass!
However, I did some upgrades to the bike to make myself more comfortable. The stock seat is awful. I knew this was going to be an issue from reading the reviews on the same bike, but in the blue/grey color scheme. My previous bike seat was bought recently and so I swapped it out with my old one. I also bought new handlebar grips and bar ends. Having doing research and already knowing what makes a longer ride bearable, I ordered those when I ordered the bike. After a couple of rides, I quickly realized I needed a taller stem to raise the handlebars to a higher setting so my back isn’t totally bent over. I also have a smart phone holder on my handlebars. These are all things that make me more comfortable. If I am strictly rating the bike for it’s functionality, it’s high! I thankfully did not experience any of the issues some other customers had when assembling the bike. My neighbor and I put it together in about an hour and had no issues besides a couple tweaks to the rear suspension and adjustments to the hand brake placements. Sometimes when I’m gearing down from 21st gear to 18, the gear wants to stick, but generally it corrects itself. Could it be better? Probably so, but I’m not to worried about it.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2018This bike has been a huge disappointment. We bought it for our son and had it for 2 years. We even took it in for a tune up at a local, reputable, bike shop a year after getting it so the gears and brakes would work. The repair people warned me it wasn't a good quality bike, but were about to improve its performance for a time. Last week we were on an 8 mile ride and the bike malfunctioned grandly. The gear changer broke and the front tire started to rub. It could not be ridden. I could not fix it with the small tool kit I carry, so I had to leave my kids on the trail to bike 7 miles back to our camp to get the car to pick them up. It was awful and the bike has been disposed of. I encourage people to consider spending a little more and getting a better quality bike. I tried to save some money by purchasing this one and in the end will spend much more than if I would have gotten a quality bike in the first place.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2022Early review. Will update as the bike sees use.
My biggest complaint is that the Kent bicycle I received was obviously returned. There were cut wire ties in the box, the English manual was missing and I had to download it, and there was some partial assembly that included stripped screws on the rear brake spring tensioners, chewed up areas at the pedal mounts where someone obviously didn't have the right tools, and paint scrapes at the handlebar mount. I debated returning it, but I forged ahead regardless and decided to keep it after I assembled, adjusted and tested it. Returning for a replacement was a wildcard since I might just get another returned unit.
The assembly was a bit tedious, but I'd imagine most bikes in this category would be. There was a bit of work to get the brakes and brake cables properly adjusted.
The front wheel is bent and wobbles. When I unboxed it and saw how the front tire is packaged on top of the frame, I felt there was a good chance it'd be bent. Shipping companies are brutal, and one drop on that side of the box would bend that rim. I'm thinking many of these bikes will have bent rims.
Initial testing, even with the bent rim, was fine. The bike rode well, shifted fine and braked well, both front and back. The front and rear derailers need a little more tuning, but they work.
I've read several reviewers stating their front brakes didn't work. The front brakes work, but attention needs to be paid to the brake pad distances from the brake's rotor, and most of the slack needs to be taken up at the caliper actuator such that a VERY short pull of the brake lever sees initial contact with the rotor. Additional pressure on the lever will tighten the caliper and stop the bike.
The app Shimano 21-speed gearing is good. There's a lot of low end gearing for trail work.
The suspension is really good. The front and rear dampening work well.
Overall, for the $300 pricetag, is recommend this Kent mountain bike. I don't know how well it'll stand up to hard abuse off-road, but for most people who aren't hard core off-road cyclists, you might be fine. The fact that it's a Prime item was also enticing since, seeing all the trouble people have had in this product category, I knew there'd be a hassle-free return policy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy buena Bicicleta
