Best alternative to fixing a flat. So fast. I've fixed 2 flats now with these and both are still holding. When you gash a sidewall and/or a puncture is too large for your sealant to fix, shove one of these in there and keep riding. If you're fast enough, you can fix a puncture/slice in less than 30 seconds and keep riding without needing to add air. These are critical for any racer or anyone who just doesn't want to fuss around with putting in a tube when your tubeless sealant can't do the job.

If you mountain bike, you need to carry one of these kits. Let me repeat myself: You, yes YOU, NEED to carry one of these. Even if you don't partake in high-velocity trail shredding, you need one of these. If you even just own a tubeless bike, you owe yourself to buy one of these.

Trust me, nothing sucks quite like being out in the field, having the time of your life, when you hear that awful hissing sound. I heard it a few days ago, when I tried to jump a curb on my mountain bike. I put a little too much stank into it a little too soon, and instead of gracefully hopping onto the curb and rolling along, I smashed my back tire into the corner of the curb with the force of a thousand suns. I ended up with two holes, one in the middle of the tread, and the other in the sidewall. I did not have the kit on me at the time, and so instead of being able to quickly patch it and cautiously roll home, I had to walk/carry my bike two miles back home. What was supposed to be a quick 1-or-2 hour outing ended up being more like 3 1/2 hours, I missed dinner, and was forced to speak to previous classmates. So in other words, evening ruined.

These little strips are essentially rubber glue and fibers, which you punch through the hole and allow to fill in the gaps. They are TACKY, and I mean it. So long as the hole isn't gargantuan, they'll path you right up and buy you enough time to roll home. They're far from a permanent fix, and aren't intended to be used as such. But for what they are, they work well. Don't blow your money on a more expensive kit - you won't find anything different there. This kit has all you need for the best price on Amazon.

Usually, you get what you pay for. Not here: This is the cheapest AND the best tire plug for tubeless tires on bikes.

I have used the more expensive versions of this, the dynaplug (with the pointy end) and many others, none come close, and the fact that this one is just cheap is the cherry on top. Here why:

      - It's light and small, you can even store that in your handle bar (I do!)
      - The driver is just fine, it doesn't break, it's long enough
      - The bacon strips are superior to other plugs: They auto seal in case of subsequent impacts, they're light and tiny, they do no leave residue or metal in your tire that'll damage your rim, they're surprisingly durable and finally they can fix holes caused by the rim (e.g. dinged rim with a sharp end) by laying them sideways.
      - It's extremely simple to use

I've fixed 2 bikes this week from fellow riders being stranded, and quite a few before that. They all bought this tool and threw away what they had before. This told me I had to come back to this tool just to write a glowing review, because it deserves it.

I'm new to road tubeless. I had a nice piece of glass put a big slice in my new tubeless tire on the way to the start of a 100 mile ride and after the sealant failed twice, I replaced with a tube and searched on the Internet to find this solution.

Fast forward a 1,000 miles later... I've replaced my 25mm tires with some 28mm and got a few punctures in my rear tire that sealed up just fine. I then got a nice slice in my front tire, but pulled out my handy anchovy filets. It was kind of hard to get the tool to work. I often put the string in and then pull it out. I have to hold down against the tire while removing the tool to get the patch to stay in the hole... but then it works as advertised!

Fast forward another 25 miles... I hit a bump and the hole pops loose. I wow my ride mate by performing a miraculous fix on the road. Pull out the old string, pop in the new one (I've learned to keep the filets in my jersey pocket instead of bike bag)... and we're off again in like a minute and a half after re-inflating the tire.

Fast forward two days later... tire is losing pressure through the hole. I top up the sealant. Still it blows out in a few miles. I replace it.

Wound up draining the sealant out of the tire and patching the hole from the inside... we'll see how that works.

So... miraculous product... but it's only good for temporary fixes. If you're on a multi-day drip, bring a tube and a patch kit in addition to the fillets.

Two tires in our little fleet of mountain bikes were salvaged after using these weird little plugs. My beautiful new Niner chubby bike—I ripped a hole in my tire as I descended a rowdy downhill that was big enough to let pretty much all the air out immediately. I didn’t know these plugs existed so I didn’t have them in my pack but used a tube to finish my ride. Looking at our local bike shop for a new tire bc the Stan’s alone wasn’t cutting it, the great clerk pointed these cool do-hickeys our to us. Ran home and plugged it and IT HELD!! No way! Now I have these in my pack and while road-tripping and mountain biking along the way we were in Bentonville when my husband’s tire ripped a hole 1/4” across in his fairly worn tire. Plugged it up and got going within 15 minutes—no need for a tube. Do yourself a favor and include these in your pack’s tools. I bought two packages here on amazon just so we could both have them.

I used a 'bacon strip' to seal a hole in a new road tire that would not seal with stan's. The strip is easy to put in. I cut off the extra and saved it. I have ridden 3 trips at 70psi and so far so good. I have read this is not a permanent fix, and I'm okay finding a better solution long term before replacing the tire. These are cheap enough I recommend all tubeless riders have them. I keep mine in a baggie with me.

Got a puncture that apparently no amount of sealant could save - (Schwalbe G-Ones 700x38 - tubeless (obviously) - this turned out to be a lifesaver - found the hole, put the "plug" on the "driver" like in the pic - stuck it through the hole, pulled out, fill back up with air & it's been holding tight... (knock on wood this review doesn't jynx me!) note - when I first put the driver in, it appeared to make the whole bigger & I thought I had really ruined the tire... but nope - so far so good.

What a fantastically simple piece of kit! However, there is the odd caveat...

My bike has tubeless tyres and so puncture repair is not via the usual kit, as in fiddly process of inner tube, glue and patches (or even the slightly easier Leeches). There may be all sorts of ways of repairing tubeless tyres, but I only know the one I’m reviewing here.

I did have cause to use these once before a couple of years ago and seemed to remember it was pretty straight forward, but bought new ones for this latest repair because I didn’t think I would be able to find the old ones after so much time had passed. At £5 for the new ones I decided it would save a lot of hassle to just buy them anyway.

The rear tyre has had a slow puncture since last year but, as long as I pumped it up before I went anywhere, I could always get where I needed to go (and wasn’t using the bike that much at the time so it was not really a big deal). Anyway, I was out yesterday and realised the tyre was deflating a little faster and so finally decided to tackle it. I should add that the tyres are filled with the green gunk associated with going tubeless but that, whilst effective, will only do so much.

I got the bike home and located the small hole in the tyre and then ordered this repair kit from Amazon. It arrived the following afternoon.

I should add that I looked at a few of the reviews before ordering it and it almost made me think twice. Il glad I didn’t, but I do take on board some of the comments. The rubber strips are laid out between two pieces of plastic sheeting. He first impression I had was how to actually take them off as they didn’t seem to want to budge. I overcame this problem by literally rolling one of the sheet and then rolling it between thumb and forefinger. The next bit looked like it might be tricky but proved to be the easiest part of the process...

I laid the piece of rubber across the provided tool with the middle part of the piece situated on the end of the tool(if that makes sense?). I then push the tool into the tyre at the location of the tiny hole (the hole was so small it was very difficult to see). This went in almost up the the black plastic handle. I then pulled the tool out which left the piece of rubber double over in the tyre (see the photo I have provided).

      Job done!!

I’m not sure whether you’re supposed to do the next bit or not, but I then trimmed some of the excess from the piece of rubber which was sticking out of the tyre and added some air to the tyre to bring it back up to full pressure.

The only thing I can add is that I found the old kit minutes after finishing the repair and, despite them being over two years, I dare say I could use them in future too.

Having located the puncture (probably the hardest part), the repair itself took less than a minute.
