- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2022Bought this bike a year ago after researching many e-bikes. I've put over 1,000 miles on this bike and everything is running great. I travel 16 miles one way and use up 1/2 the battery while on level 4 assist - level 5 on very flat road with no headwind. There is one hill that is above a 20% grade which uses up the bulk of the battery especially if I have the assist above level 3. On very windy days (+25 mph) I keep the assist around level 3 so I can make it home without switching to full manual pedaling. The wheels are double walled which was a pleasant upgrade surprise. The gear shifting works but is rarely used as you will find that riding in the highest gear at speed assist 5 does absolutely nothing to speed you up and gets frustrating trying to pedal to keep the motor going. I am replacing the chainring with a 60T (larger size) in hopes this fixes this. I don't use the other lower gears since I never use this bike without some level of assist. The bike is very heavy and pushing those pedals manually feels like a slog. Do yourself a favor and buy tubes prefilled with slime because fixing a rear wheel flat on a ride is super frustrating with the motor, wiring connection, kickstand, guardrail, and small dropout that you'll have to deal with. I know this sounds like a lot of bellyaching but overall, I am really impressed with the quality parts and pre-assembly that went into this bike. I'm tuning up the bike and finding that all the components are still looking great even though I've ridden the bike a lot. I did need to replace the rear brake pads due to uneven wear, but that was me being lazy and not double checking the orientation until a year later. I follow the battery charging instructions to a 'T' and keep the battery off the bike and indoors when not on a ride. I've already recouped the cost of this bike compared to taking the bus or buying a vehicle. I hope all your rides are fun and safe!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2020This is probably the most fun I've ever had. I've only had the bike about a week, so I can't attest to its durability. I do a lot of biking, so I'm really hoping it holds up well. I don’t have a car, so I bike pretty much every day.
I'm 5'4", 135 lbs, a construction worker and physically fit. The bike is listed as 66lbs. It's a bit of a hassle carrying up and down stairs due to my height (or lack thereof) and I haven't quite figured out the best way to grip it yet. Without the battery pack, it felt a lighter than my old single-speed. When it’s folded, you can lift it from the metal loop/handle below the seat and pull it behind you like a wagon.
The user manual was difficult to follow in several places, but it was still very easy to assemble. All I had to do really was unfold it and stuff the handlebars in.
NOTE: you will need a wrench to fully tighten the pedals, and the crescent wrench I have (a pretty small one) was too big to grasp them properly. The kind of wrench that would work best is one of those flat ones that often come with unassembled furniture. The bike DOES NOT come with one, which I thought was a little odd.
Brakes needed some adjustments to get as tight as I wanted, but it was usable out of the box.
The bike comes with everything in the picture, though the description doesn’t specifically list it: A front light/reflector, a back light/reflector, fenders, and the back rack.
I was able to get the bike up to 21mph. It lists a top speed of 20mph on this amazon page, but if you go to gopowerbike’s website, this model is listed for 18mph. Like I said, I’m only about 135-140 lbs though. I had google maps up on my bike as well, which had an average reading of 1mph less than the speedometer on my bike. Not sure if that actually means anything though.
Also, despite being 5’4”, the minimum height, I found it perfectly comfortable. I don’t even have the seat or handlebars at their lowest.
When I first got the bike, I had to walk it to Kwik Trip to fill up the tires, and then I rode it back home. This was without the battery pack in (it was at home charging). I had several small hills, sidewalk, train tracks – no issues. Some people are concerned about the small tires making it harder to pedal. This might be the case depending on how physically fit you are and what you’re used to riding. Before this bike, I had a single-speed cruiser and the massive hill on my rout to work ensured every day was leg day.
The primary difference I have noticed from the small tires is faster, sharper turning and less stability, especially at low speeds. Neither of these things concern me, but if you already have a lot of trouble balancing on a bicycle, that could be noteworthy.
I’ll update the review if I have any problems with the bike!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2025Customer service is horrible. I’ve had trouble with the battery cutting out And they were unwillingly to honor the warranty and replace the battery. Do not buy this bike; they do not stand behind their warranty.
