I was concerned about this model, but all my concerns proved to be mistaken. It is awesome! In more detail:
1. it is so easy to assemble one could do it in the dark (I did not, but it is a possibility);
2. it has a strong base and remains fixed and stable, once in place;
3. a plastic spiral tube--an ingenious simple addition--prevents the metal base from damaging your bicycle;
4. it leaves enough space for the cords of the breaks;
5. it is strong and sturdy, yet lightweight and easy to carry;
6. it is also of very good size, not very wide but deep enough, so it fits surprisingly many things;
7. it is very easy to lock and unlock, using a smart simple mechanism.
In other words, this is a fantastic product.
One caveat: the handle is thin so do not plan to carry around three gallons of milk in it or your fingers will hurt. Also, plan where to put your lights as this will block it (but who goes for groceries at night). Finally, this basket is medium-sized so it will not fit your weekly supply of groceries, however it will do a great job in combination with a backpack (and IMHO better than panniers and similar, which you cannot see flapping behind you or getting into your wheels). Also a great place to put your bicycle gear, a sweater, a water bottle or anything else. I was carrying some fruit today and it felt awesome to be able to pick grapes while waiting for a traffic light :)
