- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2017I broke the took my husband had for taking bicycle chains apart by bending this little piece. He said he paid a lot for the tool... We happened to find these replacement parts for a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole tool - so I ordered several! They arrived surprisingly fast, and they work perfectly. It was an inexpensive fix that made the tool as good as new!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2025The replacement pins fit my Park Chain Tool well.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2016The bike co-op I volunteer at has 6 of Park's CT-3 chain tools, and due to the heavy use and often unskilled users that use those chain tools over the years, the pins eventually bend or snap, rendering the tool useless.
Fortunately, Park designed the CT-3 (and many other models) with a replacable pin that screws into the handle. The nut on the pin is a 9/32, which isn't a common combination wrench size, but a pair of toothed pliers can also work for securing the pin. Be aware the threads are Nylock'ed, and will require a good amount of force to secure.
It is recommended to give the pin on the chain you are trying to push out a small drop of oil before using a chain tool. This helps a lot, especially on rusted/damaged chains.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2013The Park chain rivet tools are the best around but every once in a while the pin gets bent or broken and replacing it with one of these pins keeps the tool in operation. Be sure to keep some in your spare part storage. For anyone who repairs bicycles; sooner or later you need to take a chain apart and put it back together with one of these tools..
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2017Works great and fits perfectly but you have to order the right “size” to fit your chain tool. Look up the model of your chain tool on park’s website to get the correct pin as there are two different styles on here that amazon list as your Size choice.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2014broke my pin in the new park tools chain breaker the first day i used it, bought 4 of these to replace it figuring if one broke more probably will. it was a good thing i did ive snapped 2 more of them and will probably snap more.doesnt seem very strong compared to the tool, never had this problem with other chain breaker pins. at least they are cheap and easy to replace
- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2012Yes I know they are just replacement pins but they are much cheaper then having to replace the tool itself.
It does seem however that these pins could stronger. My current pin is slightly out of true and it's only pressed maybe 6 pins out.
Buy them now and keep spares!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2011I bought a new Park Tool chain breaker. The first day that I had it, one of my boys broke the tip. At first I thought that I would have to buy another new tool, until I looked into the tool on the Park Tool website and discovered that the tips were replaceable. I decided to check to see if the tip were available through Amazon, since I use their Prime shipping service. And sure enough Amazon had them. I gave the tips only 4 stars because it is a great idea that they are replaceable, but we broke one the first time we used the tool.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great kit, a little expensive
I snapped the original pin off my Park Tool chain tool.
Good that it is an exchangeable piece, rather than being a fixed pin.
It is expensive, but Park Tool kit is premium gear and usually highly priced.
