I purchased this basket a year ago, with my Topeak MTX Explorer Rack. I do a lot of off road biking on the weekends and it has been very handy. Every time I go out, I have a Igloo Maxcold EVA Hard Top Gripper Cooler that I fill up with bottles of water and ice (weighs around 12lbs) that I put in this basket and use one of those bunjee nets. The basket has taken a lot of bumping and rattling but and has held up very well. I've accidentally bent it several times and have always been able to pull it back into shape without any issues. I am really impressed with the durability of it. The quick track mount is still strong and working well.. no parts seem weathered or fatigued.
I agree that the handle is useless.. I threw it away a long time ago. I don't take a star off for that because I personally don't have much use for the handle.
My only minor complaint is that it is too close to the seat. I ride a 29er and I had to raise the seat to accomodate the basket. In the cases whever I've bent the basket, it's usually been from accidentally sitting too far back and hitting it.
There's a good amount of left over space on the rack when this is on.. I wish the basket was further back on the rack. I also wish the basket was on the rack longways instead.. It seems like it'd be more table / put less stress on the mount.. but again, I've not had any problems with the mount so it's obviously fine.
Still, for its durability and usefulness to me, I felt it really deserved 5 stars, I really do like it.
