I put these on a bike on which I had previously mounted the huge Wald 535 rear basket/rack set Wald 535 Rear Twin Bicycle Carrier Basket (18 x 7.5 x 12). That set made this bike seriously too rear-end heavy (even when empty) and tricky to ride. I put THEM on another bike ( a 1960's copy of a Raleigh Elite utility bike) on which they don't cause such a problem. Anyway, the 570's work fine on the first bike (a 1980's Miyata 610 lugged chromoly frame Japanese tourer). They are more than a bit tight for a week's groceries and a gallon milk jug won't fit but the handling of the bike is safe. As with all Wald products, you have to tinker a bit to get them to fit your bike. My Miyata has threaded rack mounts top & bottom but the holes are M5 so the brackets on the Wald baskets (#10 - .193 inch size) had to be enlarged with a 15/64 inch drill. I had to supply the metric hardware, of course. These baskets would work OK for you on a school or work run if you are toting a netbook computer, rain gear, your lunch in a bag, a U-lock or cable lock, & minimal extra clothes. A tight fit but doable. With Wald rear baskets, I use bags that fit inside as liners to keep my stuff clean and dry. Ordinary re-useable grocery shopping bags will fit inside the 570 baskets, just. My huge Wald 535 rear basket set will take giant Dutch waterproof bike shopping pannier bags with room to spare. I think that these 570's would work on my hardtail mountain bike (built in rack mounts there, too) but not on my hybrid - no place for the top mount clamp. If your bike is a bit "odd" you'll have to take your chances with Wald. If your bike has a quick release axle on the rear, you will have to have lower fender/rack mounts to use these. Personally, I was impressed with just how "universal" these baskets are.

The product is first rate. no question. In other reviews I read on Amazon before I purchased the basket, most agreed with the quality of the product but had negative comments as to ease of installation. Since I had every intention of having my local bike shop I was not all that concerned with that facet. As it turns out they did not include the "U bracket" that is crucial to attach the unit to the frame under the seat..
When you include the price of installation with the purchase of parts the product is of less value than first thought. No wonder people had such a hard time installing this thing. p.s. The 5 stars doesn't apply to this phase!!!!!

The basket is a great buy. It did NOT come with instructions but if you have a mind for mechanical things, it is fairly easy to install. There was a slight problem with the part that attached to the base of the bike seat. The holes were not spaced wide enough and my dad had to drill a new hole through the metal to accommodate the bolts that slide in on either side. Other than that slight problem the basket is VERY stable and sturdy and I'm sure it could detach easily if need be. The baskets are a nice size as well.

I am just starting out in the biking world, and don't know much about product variation or biking terminology. That being said, I went to buy this rear basket thinking it was a universal product. It does not specify otherwise. I was so excited for it to ship and to get it installed, but was very disappointed when i received it and it DIDN'T FIT ON MY BIKE. It is certainly my fault for not doing sufficient research before purchasing, that I know. But it is frustrating that the product description made no mention of what it is or isn't compatible with. THIS RACK DOES NOT FIT BIKES WITH DISC BRAKES. No amount of bending or stretching or spacers or washers will make it fit. For it to fit you would have to have a welding studio with a bench vise and blowtorch and the whole shebang. I'm also pretty disappointed to find out that rear racks compatible with disc brakes cost upwards of $100.00 if you want them to carry more than 15 lbs. Same weight restrictions with seat post mounted racks. The product itself is straight-forward and sturdy, though I was missing two screws on delivery. There are very vague instructions on their website that are pretty useless. I am going to try my best to figure out a way to mount it, but I think I wasted my time and money.

I love this basket. The mounting hardware had to be reconfigured as it was certainly not made to fit my seat post. Once that was done I had to replace the axle bolts to some that were threaded to my particular bike. It took a trip to the hardware store and a bit of fiddling but I got it done. I also sewed up two fabric drawstring bags to line the baskets. Great for bottles, snaks, sweaters, cameras or whatever. Basket can make a little noise on rough terrain, definetly built for cruisers.

I ride my bike to school and since I'm going for massage therapy I have a lot of supplies to tote around with me--meaning four large books and a duffle bag full of supplies--these baskets are exactly what I needed. They carry all of my stuff without me needing to break my back with a backpack and not to mention the flat part that enables you to bungee extra stuff on top. Simple, yet very spacious and convenient. I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase.

It is put together well and looks nice but...Baskets are small. A full paper grocery bag wouldn't fit in them. The attachment For the seat post was too small and would not fit. The holes for the braces were too small to fit on the axle bolts. They might work on a child's bike but they were not for my 26" bike. Would have been nice if the add specified.

The rack came with no instructions. I had to you tube it. Then I needed to buy a monostay adapter to make it fit. Thought I was getting a good deal, now I see why.
